Books Next Up...

It is always a goal for me to read several books at once.
This month I am reading the following:
Anti-Fragile
Genesis
Run the Mile You're In
The Hormone Fix

Anti-Fragile
It didn't take long for me to begin seeing connections between teaching and he idea of anti-fragility. For instance, I have always hated rubrics, but have never been able to fully explain why they make me cringe. Now, I see that my issue is with the desire to remove any subjective evaluation to cover the teacher's butt when an obnoxious parent or student comes to their office begging for a higher grade. Teachers actually create fragility when we try to remove randomness from the equation. How can I create a rubric and expect to get creative essays? You can't.

Genesis
The whole book is about following directions. Knowing where you came from and following directions. Obedience is hard. My rebellious heart leads me toward selfish pleasures. The reality is that life becomes easier through obedience. With all of the rain we are having this month, the story of the flood and God's promise not to destroy the world with rain gives me some hope in the story. Throughout Genesis history plays an important role. The table of Nations and lists of lineage are there for us to remember who we are. Globalists might think they can create a modern Tower of Babel but they often forget the moral to the story.

Run the Mile You're In
Reading about Ryan's struggle to keep his eyes focused on God throughout his career.
