Mom is wrapping up her stay in the hospital due to her post-total knee cellulitis. I had been asking her to go to the ER for the past few weeks and her PA finally put her there on Wednesday. She sounds so much better.
While I was walking this morning, I called and talked to mom. She was telling me all about Bebe, Blossom (Middleton then Zimmer), and June (Yenor). We talked about Jay Yenor's kids, Leighton and Hutton, both extraordinary athletes. Leighton played lacrosse for Northwestern and Hutton played basketball for Rollins college
Mom had Nancy in May 1965, then went to PA, met Dad then married him in December of 1965. Dad got out of the Navy in February (I think). They moved down to Georgia and lived with Grandma and Grandpa for a few weeks until they found a small place to live. I know mom must have been going crazy in that little town with no friends. She did not want to be intimate with Dad when the folks could hear everything. What a weird time. Mom said things were good during that time but there were plenty of differences. When Dad got out of the Navy, they planned to go to Colorado. He even sent his stuff out to Colorado (where? How did he get it back? What was the plan? I think college was the plan). Eventually that summer perhaps Bebe and Bare told them to come to Michigan and go to school. I am not sure what happened with the school part but I think this is where Dad got the job with KMart and many things changed. On the wedding night, mom did think there was funny business but I don't know. I am sure he was drunk. Neither of them should have been getting married. Why didn't someone say, "STOP"! They must have stayed in Michigan from fall 1966-1970? Andrew was born in Mt. Clements. Why there? I know she did not want to go near Ann Arbor. Is this when Dad worked at Ford? Some how they got to Rockhill SC and I am pretty sure Dad was with KMart by that time. I was born in 1971 and mom was back in MI in the current house by 1973. Then Dad took off for Alaska and I really don't much more from there.
